Early calf / cow care starts early on the dairy too! As with humans early pregnancy detection is important.
This ultrasound was done while Chica was 44 days with calf on July 23, 2010. So as I post this she is at 58 days with calf. I hope to get another, clearer picture as her pregnancy progresses.
I have to admit that I was getting a little worried that she would re-breed. She had a miscarriage in the winter and we had re-bred her 7 times. Finally Rich Silacci, the herds manager at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, with his special touch, bred Chica on the eighth try.
We still have a long way to go though. I hope for her uneventful progress to full term. I look forward to seeing her with her own calf.
I look forward to sharing the next update that I get! I am sure grateful to the great team at the Cal Poly Dairy.
New to your blog…and I love it! Not really sure how I stumbled upon, but am definitely glad I did!
Hello Barbara~
I heard of your cheeses through John at Tolosa Winery who is one of my wholesale customers. I would love to try your cheeses and possibly carry them. Please let me know how we can make that happen! Thanks so much for this blog…very good for the industry! Hope to hear from you soon!
Thanks!
