This is my first video in attempt to put a face on the dairy farmer. I have decided to chronicle my heifer Chica as she goes from a heifer to a milking cow.
Many consumers are out of touch with where their food comes from. I think that it is important to regain their confidence due to the negative media on animal agriculture. I hope this can clarify the many myths these organizations are showing in their campaign to create a “vegan world”.
This is very raw and unedited. I am feeling a bit embarrassed as I do not like to be on camera, but I realize that we must attempt to reconnect to the public and showing them the dedication, welfare, and hard work that goes into producing the quality dairy products that we produce.
This is a great idea…my cousin and i want dairy promotion to show a nice parlor and cows being milked in a video. Then play the vidoe in walmart etc. to show people how most cows are well treated and to explain to them where thier dairy products come from.
Thank you so much! I have been so nervous about posting. I just feel we need to show people the REAL us…not a negative, made up version. Thank you for your very nice comment!
Great Job! I wish more dairy producers would go out on a limb like you have…keep up the great work…the world needs to hear from you!

you did great you won’t feel embarrassed getting on camera.
the more you do i the easier it will get.
Barbara, great video of how we do care for our animals. Look forward to hearing more about Chica and her pregnancy! Thank-you once again for helping our industry in putting your voice and opinions out there. Your time and efforts are soooo much appreciated!
Thank you so much! People do need to see the hard work and our “heart” that is in our business daily!
I look forward to sharing…. I am attaching a comment I received from a dairy farmer! Tough times for so many…yet this dairy farmer who is hurting at the loss of his cows….still wishes the very best! God bless him and his family! YOU and the good people of our industry is what keep me going!
“i want to let you know that what you are doing is great i just participated in the last cwt and it really hurts me to get rid of all these cows and all the employes being out of work . i hope that what you are doing will get results and help the dairy industry to become more healthy financially again. i miss the business already only after 2 weeks of being out of it and wish the best for all involved thanks again” NAME WITHHELD
Barbara,
It’s so great to have a real dairy farmer talk about how much you care about your animals. Chika (how do you spell it?) is so cute and I look forward to following her journey. Hooray for you for showing that good people produce the dairy products we all love so much.
Amy
Barbara,
I LOVE it! You did a great job! I look forward to your updates and I’ll pass it on!

I sent this to @LATimesJerry have you seen @tbtamartin Lemoore dairy video? She’s reaching out to consumers. Will it be effective? Sure seems so to me.
I hope that this little bit can help people reconnect to us, the farmer! I am humbled at your
forward Thank YOU Barbara
Thank you for all the hard work you do!!!
Great video! Thanks for putting a face to the farmer. What you’re doing is great!
I just found your blog via the most recent issue of Progressive Dairyman, and love what I see here!
I have been following some “healthy living” blogs for a while, and am very discouraged by the negative raps the dairy industry and traditional agriculture in general get. I’ve kicked around the idea of starting my own blog to help counteract the myths that are circulating in the blogosphere, but haven’t made the leap yet.
Good for you for putting a face on our very important industry! Oh, and I have the same feelings about being on camera, so I completely understand the courage it took for you to make and share that video!
Nice job!
I do photo albums of all our critters, even those that go on to freezer camp, for exactly that reason. Farming humanely can and does happen! We have our first calf right now, and I’m milking just one cow. But I loves her 🙂
Hi Barbara-You are doing a fabulous job getting our message out there. Thanks for all you’re doing-love, JJ
I finally sat down to watch your blog. This is going to be fun to follow along. Thanks for getting the word out about dairies. I’m so tired of only hearing the negative and not the positive. I am going to spread the word about your blog.
