I am really looking forward to attending the Western United Dairymen Convention in Modesto. They do a great job providing seminars to educate and speakers that shed light on what is happening within our dairy industry. Myself and a fellow dairy farmer and friend, Dino Giacomazzi are giving a seminar for those dairy farmers interested in learning more about social media and the great value of it. (Dino and Ray Prock are really the pioneers of dairy farmers on social media and were the ones who introduced me to it)
Most consumers appreciate knowing where their food comes from. They often clear up some concerns they might have regarding how we treat our cows and our practices. They are reassured to see a real face behind the farmer and product.
I am especially excited to listen to David Martosko I have been a fan of his for quite awhile. I appreciate his blunt talk! He has titled his remarks, “Dealing with the ‘Humaniacs’: Why It Matters and What You Can Do”.
According to Martosko, the public does not realize that most of their donations to HSUS are not going to help lost cats and dogs, or help out underfunded animal shelters. Instead, the majority of the money allegedly is being used to “bankroll anti-meat campaigns and PETA-style propaganda,” said Martosko. The new website includes a blog written by Martosko; a library of documents regarding HSUS’s financial spending and other matters; and a database that will track the scores of non- and for-profit organizations that are connected to HSUS. “We think there’s a huge disconnect between the financial reality and what the public thinks,” he said. “We are going to lay out the evidence, little by little, showing that HSUS is PETA with a nicer wristwatch.”
